Umm, this is painfully good. As much as I adore the other looks (I mean, with their price points you know that leather is going to be softer than the softest puppy ears, right?) I have to say that the most lust inducing for me is that INCREDIBLE flared trouser cotton candy pink suit. That's so dang slick, it's like a slip 'n' slide! I love it. Gah. Must find way to exploit self and as many others as possible in order to reach that financial bracket. Come on, it's the American way, where's my piece of the pie? And what kind of pie is it, anyway? Does it have to be apple, because I'm really more of a lemon meringue gal myself. I digress.

Now one of my bands is defunct because the guitarist/drummer (a couple, actually) are moving back to Oakland, where he's from. We've known each other for 15 years, and they're two of my only friends here. Major sad face. Sigh.

So, yeah, I've been unbelievably MIA lately...sorry guys. I've had two deaths in my immediate family in two months, a bout of the flu so nasty that I subsequently lost 15 pounds in a month, and more medical problems, bills, and unreal mistreatment by doctors that I'm frankly surprised that my head hasn't exploded all over one of them by now. I'm trying to put it all back together, or barring that, just saying to hell with it and starting over. But damn it, I'm still here.

So I basically JUST got home from California when I was viciously attacked by a particularly nasty viral flu which utterly laid waste to the temple which is my rather crumbling body. Stress and grief from returning from Suzy's (my brother's partner girlfriend lover) funeral after her completely unexpected and sudden death. The virus ravaged me for over a month, taking 15 pounds of my frame, leaving me so weak that to walk to the bathroom of my house left me panting and almost passing out. I'm trying to recover from it...my grandmother just died. So back to California I go. I'll be posting some really incredible shit in the next week to hopefully fund my trip. Also: I need to own Alaia pieces and seriously I don't even remember the last Chanel I managed to score...

Just When You Thought Things HAD To Look Up-

It was just a few short weeks ago I had one of the worst "vacations" of my life back home in California, and right after I got back I received word that my brother's amazing, beautiful, brilliant, talented, sweet, funny girlfriend Suzanne Day had SUDDENLY passed away. I basically got home, sent out some eBay packages, kissed my fiance and my dogs, and got right back on a plane. So I'm sorry I haven't been updating guys, then my laptop took El Crappo as well and I've just not been the best conversationalist as of late. Here's a photo of Suzy. Her loss is being felt like an earthquake in the lives of all who were lucky enough to have known her. I've never met anyone who I had so much in common with, with fashion being one of our greatest mutual passions. I'm deeply sad that we didn't get more time.

So I'm home in California, Northern this time, which is where my brother and father are. Just spending lots of time trying to help out. I'm going shopping in a little bit, with my brother. Hitting up Harput's Union and some of my favorite haunts. Hopefully I'll find some gems. Oh and my AMAZING girl friend Robyn (of New York roadtrip fame!) loaned me her fricking D60 Nikon so I'm taking some really incredible shots. Now if I can just show my Dad how to take ones of me...

Hiatus Hates Us!

So, my attempt at a vacation ended here, with me in bed sitting upright trying to type with one hand since the other is confined to the cotton equivalent of a convent. Yup, it's in a sling. Actually, the trip back to New York was effing amazing, had such a killer time just zipping around with my friend Robyn; who's from Queens. We've been meaning to take this vacation for over a year. Either it was bad timing, I had some sort of mass emergency (see dog having 4,000.00 dollar joint surgery), or we just couldn't get out of our obligations without ripples of never ending repercussions. Much fun was had stoking out on awesome boutiques and hole in the wall stores stuffed with vintage and a bunch of other weird shit. Gimme a city with a surplus store in a 6 story walk up and I'm perfectly at home.
However...
my health waits for no one and gives no warning, of course. So I'm in a sling because my GOOD arm, the left one, dislocated in my sleep. So the right arm has had two surgeries already and now they want to do surgery on the left (if and when it doesn't respond to PT and continues to be unstable, which it will, duh) AND a revision surgery on the right.
The good news though, is that now I'm on bed rest and such (no it's not just for the shoulder) I can write and update to my heart's content, and list new records and clothes in the shop! I'm in the process of thinking over doing just a straight up friends and family kind of boutique online...you know, membership, etc. Feedback would be greatly appreciated. Here are some shots from the New York trip. I'll post some more later today or tomorrow along with some really cool x-ray copies the orthopedic surgeon gave me. Oh, and anyone have any extra ice packs? Maybe some spare time to play cards with? Hahahahaha...

What do you guys think? Should I try to ride out my mini-recession and hold onto my Jeffrey Campbell 99 snakeskin (faux, Christy, no worries, oh AND I MISS THE POOP OUTTA YOU AGHHHHH) wedges and my Jeffrey Campbell sandal wedges? Here they are in all their glory-
They're totally sold out and almost impossible to find, but unlike my Xenon wedges, these size 6's run a bit big so I have not worn the sandal-ee ones at all, and I think the 99's are so gorgeous that I'm a bit afraid to wear them! I'm hanging on the devastating edge of indecision here, kids. I'm also (someone please talk me out of this, wouldja!?) pondering selling the Sergio Rossi pearlescent platforms and the gorgeous Dries Van Noten heels that I picked up recently in NYC at the ever so divine Century 21. Seriously. That place makes my soul weep from joy. For those unfortunately uninitiated, Century 21 is basically TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Ross, Off 5th Saks, Last Chance, Last Call, EXCEPT-this is where mothereffin' Bergdorf Goodman's, Barney's NY, all the HIGH HIGH end retailers go to die. Ugh. Double ugh. You can't imagine how incredible it is. I scored said Dries Van Noten heels, Sergio Rossi platforms, this gorgeous Milly embroidered technicolor jacket in the style of Chanel, 2 pairs of American Apparel sweatshorts which I really needed since Baudie the wonder dog eats all my pajamas (I'm not sure why, but he eats rocks and things like charcoal briquets as well, soooo),

and some other amazing finds. I'll be going back really soon, hopefully with my girlfriend Robyn, who actually knows how and enjoys shopping, and is one of the only women in my personal history who can genuinely hang tough with me when I'm in crazy bag lady bargain hunter mode! (I love you Robyn, you rule!) I actually have a Century 21 budget, which is great because it means I put enough (or try to, anyway) away to go up to NYC, stay for a weekend, eat, and go shopping. How fun is that??? Plus with all the emotional shitstorms and health issues I've been weathering I think it's a swell idea for me to take regular mini-vacations. Don't you agree?

Summer seems to be officially here, my dears. I know my pals down in NoLa are starting to feel it, and here in North Carolina yesterday and today are finally that hot, sultry sun I remember from last year. Good for the garden, bad for the hair. So how do you manage chic style while wearing chignons and shorts? Here are a few of my favorite street style pics to help you along. Loving her whole ensemble, are those cashmere shorts?! Paired with such a sweet ribbon adorned sweater and a vampy red lip, she could take this day or night no hassle. Nicely done.

Another lovely outfit, and super casual and easy as well. Loving the studded t-shirt dress paired with those vintage Roper boots. Just the right amount of edge. Her hair is amazing too, imo.

Another perfect casual outfit. Loving the leggings with that gorgeous oversized sweater. Plus, I'm a sucker for socks with heels. That takes balls.

Now and then, meaning every two to three months or so, I get one of those customers on eBay who really makes me crazy. Makes me want to throw in the proverbial towel, as it were. It's really discouraging sometimes. There are so many factors into running a successful online boutique that your average consumer doesn't have to think about, and rightly so. I mean, that's why they aren't running one, right? The deal with eBay is that for over a decade now it's been really the only reliable game in town, but with some pretty hefty price tags for sellers. We pay a ton of fees, and rely on sometimes quite sketchy peeps to give us our feedback ratings. I buy a ton of stuff on eBay as well, though I'm totally not supposed to, heheh, and I almost always leave happy glowing five star reviews of my sellers because I understand how much work it takes just to deal with it on a day to day basis. Recently I sold an Alexander Wang blazer and two and a half weeks after the sale and delivery of said item, the customer decided they thought it was inauthentic. Ouch. Not only is this absurd on several levels, as I've been doing this for a long time, but I can track where I bought it from (Off 5th Saks, and if they're selling fakes then we're all screwed!), plus I have a no questions asked three day return policy. So it makes me sad when people are immediately aggressive and rude. Basically I gave them the refund, and then had to wait another two weeks to get the item back. Le sigh. I know there are way more grateful, appreciative, amazing customers out there than the alternative, but I know Christy and all my compadres at the Buf can definitely relate-sometimes it's the rough ones that stick with you for a little while. So I have been taking a little hiatus, and just now am thinking of listing a new and rockin' batch of designer and vintage. (think a really cool Dooney & Bourke green snake foldover clutch, a brand new with tags Lamb bag, a Red Valentino long sleeve blouse, Twenty 8 Twelve by Sienna Miller, and Alexander Wang) So we'll have to see. Sometimes it's painful to have to funnel my own cash back into the mix, but after half a decade plus, I still really enjoy slinging clothes, so you guys are stuck with me. I love you all, my gorgeous regulars and friends. I'm not going anywhere.

UGH. FUCKING DOUBLE UGH. I spent all of Sunday and most of Monday in the emergency room for pain, loss of hearing, vertigo, nausea, and a whopper more's worth of shit. I am not a happy kid, kids. I have a ton of ebay shits to take care of, and lemme tell you, the buyers don't care about the seller, they care about the package and time to destination. Don't get me wrong, I love my customers, but I know its hard to wait for something you've only imagined in person. In any case, it's one of those weeks that everything comes crashing down around me and I feel sort of strangled by circumstances beyond my control. Anyone who has gone deaf probably knows what I'm talking about...it's as if someone is covering my ears. Scary stuff. Where's the capital F for Faith? I'm working on it, slowly but surely, I'm trying. My heart was all fucked up last night too...irregular and sudden, lots of pressure on my chest. So here's some photos of my shit I was going to post, might as well still do it.

So I usually try to keep it fairly impersonal on here, which I think ends up costing me in regularity of posting. Trying to manufacture depth in posts on things (operative word) which interest me when I'm carrying a rather heavy load personally can be more than I can bear. So, here you go-
Lately (and by lately I mean the last couple of years, up to right now) I've been having some pretty serious medical problems. Surgeries, illnesses, lots of mysterious symptoms, new diagnosis, etc. It sucks. There's plenty of eloquent ways I could illustrate this but really, when you're this out of gas physically, it sucks is about as poetic as you get. In any case, I still stay current with art, music, fashion, film, and literature as much as possible. Sometimes I find myself getting more depressed instead of cheered up by all of it because the sheer enormity of my everyday life has so much BS in it. Not that I'm ungrateful, mind you, I'm not, it's just that the shy glimpses we get of designer's lives, artist's lives, etc, are so narrowed down to a "just so" photoshoot of perfection and hope. At least to me. So in that vein, I was reading and envying Sophomore designer Chrissie Miller's lovely abode and wardrobe on Elle.com and thought I'd fill you in. I'd love it if something in my life was white and clean besides hospitals. Here's to that in the future.

Sorry all, I've been SWAMPED with school, work, and preparing the house for my Papa's two week visit from California! YAY!!!!!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I'm looking forward to it. I need to see him and just relax, talk, cook, fish. All the wonderful things I miss out on now, living out here. Besides being a Cali girl to the very marrow of my bones, being this far away from my Dad and my brother is really tough. SO, not a moment too soon my Dad will be here and we can chill out together. :)

Oh Good God. It's freaking amazing. Currently listening to the new Dangermouse, Sparklehorse, DAVID LYNCH collaboration. Unreal. SO SO SO good. Iggy Pop, Flaming Lips, Frank Black, and Monsieur Lynch has produced a book of beautiful photographs to go along with this incredibly successful concept album. Lately, I've been a bit under the weather. As such, I'm one of those girls who tends to try to dress up and away the blues that accompany feeling a bit, shall we say, peckish. This is a regular, everyday outfit for a full class load day at school. The top is Alexander McQueen for Target, the pants are French Connection, the shoes are Dolce Vita that I scored for 7.00 on eBay, hand beaded Native bracelet picked up in Akron, Ohio, and vintage butterscotch clip on Bakelite earrings from Buffalo Exchange in Phoenix, Arizona (go AZ4!!!). You can't see it in the photos, but there's also a floral themed cane floating around in there somewhere. So if you see lots of pics of me leaning, that's why. :)

It's pretty undeniable that Alexander Wang has become a household name and one seriously rock star young designer. His latest show has plenty of new covet-ables, my favorites being the shoes and the bags. I can't help but notice the similarities in the heeled boots of the last photo looking remarkably like all the punk rock witch boots I used to wear. I've been searching for a pair rather desperately for over a year now. What do you like? How can you re-create this on a shoe string budget? I'm working on some DIY solutions myself...

So courtesy of another blogger (platinumevil), I discovered a fantastic new designer named Khoi Le. She designs bags, accessories, amazing fringe spats, and more. Truly talented, and also TRULY low priced. I forsee this won't be a permanent condition however, as there's really no reason why these designs wouldn't instantly fit in with the merchandise on pixie market or opening ceremony. My suggestion to you, my dears, is to snap this stuff up as soon as you can before this shit blows up, because it will, trust me. Love love love the bag I've ordered. Those that know me IRL know that I'm completely obsessed, and have been forever, with Charles Baudelaire. Those who don't, CB was a French poet/opium addict/red wine consuming weirdo who had strange mistresses and one of the most subversive and daring written voices of his time. I finally got his poem L'Ennemi tattooed from my underarm to my hipbone, about 4 and a 1/2 inches in width. Can I tell you that it took 6 hours and I went into shock? Well worth it. Plus, Paulie at Glen's Tattoo Shop in Chapel Hill is my new favorite. Love him. So nice through the whole thing, attention to detail, courteous, and never once was a prick about the whole no shirt thing. I'll post some pics of the final product later today.

Somehow, being dressed in the most basic of comfortable clothing makes everything easier to bear. I woke up today and limped out to my back deck to take in the garden and the pups playing. It's my morning routine. I wake up, start a pot of coffee, and wander outside. The sun was shining, dogs were happily chasing birds, and all of my seeds have sprouted into little plants. I have this thing about self sufficiency and sustainability, and also about organically grown foods. So in an effort to marry and enjoy all of these interests, I'm slowly but surely developing my back yard into a really productive and aesthetically pleasing garden. Peppers, beans, tomato, potato, carrot, chard, onion, leeks, cantaloupe, watermelon...the list keeps going, trust me. Plus, a ton of really gorgeous flowers and some vintage planters and trellises. It's a really wonderful way to relieve stress, to feel as though I'm making some sort of positive addition to my little corner of the world, and totally a form of spiritual meditation for me. With all the health issues I've been dealing with, it's vital that I have some time where my mind is just sort of there, open, malleable, without any issues taking up precious real estate. Plus, how can it not be fulfilling to shop for dinner in your own garden? It's awesome. I recommend it to all. Even my good friend who has a balcony at her apartment is finding joy in growing a cute little herbal garden of culinary plants! Space does not define your ability. Anyway, what I meant to say was that it's the little things that help me get through all these trials and tribulations life throws at me. Things like a really clean, soft plain white t shirt by Helmut Lang, which I scored for under 20 bucks at TJ Maxx. Or Rogan cargo pants. BCBG jelly sandals for ten dollars. (did I mention that was for TWO PAIRS???) My dogs, my garden, my house, cooking. Thank God for all of the wonderful moments they bring me. Without them, I'd be lost. Skoal to them!

eBay is such a ridiculous wonderland. I'm really not supposed to shop so much for me, but at this point I'm evening it out by unloading over ten times more than what I'm bringing in. My closet is sad and barren. Really. No, I promise. It's close to depressing. Currently, that's life. I have to edit down, compile, edit down, compile. I did break out my trusty Singer sewing machine in preparation for some really fun reworkings and fashion experiments. I'm so influenced by vintage, and I want to continue to celebrate it by bringing it back to life, so to speak. It's not an original idea by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a bit like recycling newspapers, cans, et al. One person does it, it's still good. Twenty people, even better. You get the picture. I've been really excited about getting some key life long pieces taken care of for my own wardrobe. As you can see, I'm well on my way. Some combat boots in my size, which is something of a miracle, vintage punk belt and boot strap courtesy of an old Cleveland punk I found on eBay, and an AllSaints deconstructed blazer. Lovely. More to come. Just don't tell my significant other.

So I won a few auctions on eBay this weekend, which I'm pretty stoked on. I should not really have bought anything, but you know, school and life are really ultra stressful right now and sheesh, the retail prices for these are about ten times more. All of these are from one of my favorite labels, AllSaints SpitalFields, out of England. Everything, almost without fail, that they make is absolutely incredible. Plus, they actually have an equally appealing men's line which is quite rare. Check AllSaints out here. I'm currently redesigning some vintage for sale in the shop, making some really nifty jewelry, and studying for an Economics midterm, a math midterm, and working on a million other things. Damn. Damn damn, double damn. Alexander Wang will be releasing a design collaboration with the Gap, and rumor has it that not only will he be bringing his usual casual luxury styles with him, but a little bird told me that he's also releasing a khaki motorcycle jacket for UNDER 100$!!!! I don't know about you guys, but I'm a full time worker/student/artist, and that's a little more reasonable for me to justify. Not so much the 2800$ leather jackets, though they're brilliant and I love them. I'm simply not in that wage bracket...yet. Ha! I'm hoping that various neurosis, including workaholism and OCD will eventually aid me in being able to afford at least one of his gorgeous bags. The Gap collection drops on June 16th. Don't miss it, and I'd plan on getting there early, I have the feeling it's going to sell out.

Ok, so I've been MIA again. Sorry kids. Lots going on, lots to talk about, lots to accomplish, you know the drill. Now I'm sitting at work, programming and working on the new face of Street Walkin' Cheetahs Boutique, getting geared up to start my new quarter at school. Tonight I have a four hour Economics class. Strangely, I think I'll really enjoy it. At least I hope to. As far as students go, I'm a pretty ideal one for a teacher. I try to come in super open minded and ready to absorb information. I work really hard and I sit in the front of the class. You know, big time note taker, early paper writer, blah blah. I'm a total geek. It's really exciting to be in college. I had waited a long time to be able to be here. In other news, hopefully the new store front will be up and functioning Friday, with a TON of stuff in it at stupid low prices. I've been sitting on a bunch of goodies because I didn't want to relaunch with the old layout, and honestly coding for both Ebay and Auctiva is ridiculously time consuming. So, this weekend, my dears. Expect designer, vintage, and records, as always. Some of the items will be from my private collection so it should be a pretty amazing inventory. I'm thinking about going back to work at my last job, so we'll see what happens with the store. If it does really well, like I hope it will, I may not have to juggle 4 jobs and a full time, 17 credit hour school schedule. The times are trying for everyone I know. My little household is no exception. Look forward to photos of my not-Victory Victory garden. I'm down as hell with self sufficiency and sustainability, so I'm cutting out our entire produce bill (with the exception of bananas, which I haven't quite worked out just yet) from the grocery shop with my garden. Think peppers, beans, tomatos, melons, berries, everything imaginable will be going on. It's going to be beautiful. Plus, I love playing in the dirt. Being outdoors with the dogs and the trees and my plants is a welcome and sanity saving respite from staring at a computer screen, which is what I do for at least 12 hours pretty much everyday. I work hard, man. And I ain't gonna stop now.

Oh, covet covet covet. I'm dying here! I've been (and still am, of course) SO SO ill for the last two weeks. Ugh. Gross. Can't freaking handle it. I'm wrecked. And, of course, it's the beginning of finals at my school (art school) so I'm completely screwed. S-C-R-E-W-E-D!!!! Plus, I of course have some totally bogus "group" project and neither of the people doing it with me haven't gotten hold of anything. So, guess I have to do: a, a blog for a client (though it's almost done), two record covers for the label I work for (Smogveil), a portfolio website for my Intro to Scripting Languages class, an animation (!!!!) that's supposed to be a "group" project, (due tomorrow, by the way), and oh, I don't know, try to leave the bathroom floor? That'd be fabulous. So, in the meantime, I have nothing but time to lust after clothes. I am ridiculous. But really-some if this shit is so right it's not right. I'm obsessed (as some of you already know) with AllSaints, Bassike (an unreal Australian label, I mean, what do these people do? Rock N Roll, clothes, good God!!!), Sass & Bide....ugh. So, remember those jellies we used to wear when we were little girls (did they even make them for boys? That's not very fair, is it?) that used to eat down to the bone on the side of your foot? I had them in clear lavender, clear pink (hot, of course) and clear sea foam green. Yes, it was some years ago and the color sea foam green was all the freaking rage. Don't ask me. But if you find a photo of me with my massive bunchy socks pulled up over my awesome acid washed black pegged jeans you win a prize. Anyway, Givenchy has apparently decided to disperse something to the little people or something, because these ridiculously adorable JELLY lace up sandals are only 170.00!!!! I can't believe it. Radio Silence Must Cease!

Yeah, I've been MIA lately. Totally swamped with classes, work, life, health, etc... Mostly the health part, actually, but c'est la vie! I've found some real gems in the vintage cat lately, and hope to be posting some soon for sale in the store. Please check them out and look for the records to be slowly but surely added as well. In other news, I have discovered the face of God in my bathtub. His name is Lush. Holy Cow!!!! Has anyone used this stuff?????? It's amazingly fantastic. I bought the Rock Star soap , the Sonic Death Monkey bath gel, the Ma Bar bubble bar, the Geo Fizz bath bomb, and the Too Drunk To F*ck bath emotibomb. Yes, that's really the name of it, which is all the more reason for a girl like me to shop there. Last night I took a bath, as it was snowing like crazy outside and my body aches like you wouldn't believe, with the Geo Fizz bath bomb and the Rock Star soap. I have to vouch for these bad boys-they work. Really, really well. I have been craving another bath all morning, and honestly may just make myself a cup of tea and hop in to some hot scented water when I get home. Sigh. If only that were now, and if only someone would pay me to take more baths. That appealing hot pink slab is the Rock Star soap, which I used to shave my legs (AH-mazing!) and smells like bubble gum. Yay!

In other depression curing purchases, I wandered foolishly into the Sephora at Crabtree in Raleigh, after an admittedly failed attempt to get help at MAC. (it wasn't their fault, they were super slammed, but I really wanted the Hello Kitty collection! ) I fell in love with Nars years ago upon my first excursion into a Sephora, in Las Vegas. I seriously had the same eye shadow for five or six years before it needed to be replaced. Can't beat it. Especially since a duo shadow costs 32.00, which for me is a bit steep but entirely worth it. I FINALLY found the right foundation for me!!! This may not seem exciting to you, but let me tell you, I'm pretty ecstatic. It's the Fiji balanced formula, and we'll see how it works out.
